COMMERCE CITY — The energy at Friday’s Colorado Rapids practice at Field 20 of Dick’s Sporting Goods Park matched the urgency of the moment. The players were making sure their teammates knew precisely what the coaches were relaying to them with positioning, constantly (and loudly) communicating during attacking drills and were zeroed in from start to finish. Ring of Honor inductee Drew Moor spoke to the team before training. It can mean only one thing: It’s Rocky Mountain Cup weekend. The Rapids’ 7:30 p.m. kickoff Saturday at America First Field against Real Salt Lake will either put the final nail in the coffin of a miserable 2023 season in which they currently sit bottom of the MLS standings, or it’ll provide an unexpected spark for the remaining eight games. One player who’s eager to be the spark plug again for Colorado (3-10-12, 19 points) is Littleton’s Cole Bassett. The 22-year-old has missed 11 games this season across all competiti...Why Denver spent $75k to analyze converting office towers to apartments

Denver hopes converting office buildings to apartments is the key to revitalizing downtown.Although some employees have returned to the office since the pandemic spurred the switch to working from home, the Downtown Denver Partnership said employee counts downtown were only 60% of 2019.Although fewer workers are commuting, vehicle traffic is 2% below 2019. But much of that happens on nights and weekends, the latest traffic analysis from INRIX shows. If people are willing to come downtown to eat and play, providing more options for them to live there makes sense. So, Denver spent $75,000 in federal money to hire Gensler to score 29 downtown office buildings on whether they’d be likely candidates to convert to apartments. The Gensler study shows 16 buildings are prime conversion candidates while 13 have potential.“Downtown towers are a different animal to demolish. It would be a shame to waste them,” Jennifer Ramsey, adaptive reuse administrator at Denver’s Depart...Federal lawsuit filed against SoCal Edison for allegedly causing Bobcat Fire in 2020

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- Two driverless Cruise cars blocked a street and delayed an ambulance transporting a critically injured pedestrian to a hospital, according to the San Francisco Fire Department. The pedestrian, who had been struck by a car on Harrison and 7th streets, died after reaching the hospital.More than a dozen incidents in which Cruise and Waymo's self-driving cars interfered with emergency responders were detailed in SFFD records obtained and published by Forbes on Friday.Firefighters said two stalled Cruise cars caused the ambulance to be delayed on August 14 while the pedestrian was bleeding heavily from "significant left lower extremity injuries." "When we arrived at scene, the only open lanes for egress from the call were blocked by two Cruise vehicles that had stopped and were not moving or leaving the scene. We were unable to leave the scene initially due to the Cruise vehicles not moving. This delay, no matter how minimal, contributed to a poor patient outcome,...Narcan will soon be available over-the-counter

(KRON) -- The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved Narcan for over-the-counter back in March. Shipments are currently on their way to pharmacies and stores. There seems to be some confusion in California where many thought that over-the-counter Narcan was already available without a prescription. KRON4 worked to get some answers, and this is what we found. Hundreds of drug users arrested in San Francisco Harm reduction specialists at the Overdose Awareness Event on Thursday were under the impression that Narcan was able to be purchased at any pharmacy in California without a prescription. If you to a pharmacy, you’ll find out that’s not the case.KRON4 first went to a Walgreens in San Francisco to try to get Narcan. “So you need a prescription to get it over the counter here?" The pharmacy replied, "Yes."The case was the same at a Safeway Pharmacy.Director of Overdose Prevention Policy and Strategy for the National Harm Reduction Coalition Mary Silla explained how states like...Over $190K worth of stolen merchandise recovered in El Sobrante
