'Heavy congestion' expected near UT, downtown due to multiple concurrent events

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The City of Austin released a memo Thursday to bring awareness to the many concurrent events scheduled near the University of Texas and the downtown Austin area Saturday.Drivers should be prepared to expect traffic delays due to the multiple events around the area.“Staff anticipates very heavy congestion around the university and in the downtown area during and after these events. A late spring snowstorm Friday night and early Saturday brought blizzard warnings, booming thunder and several inches of snow on the ground also left thousands without power and dozens stranded at the Minneapolis-St. Paul airport.This latest storm makes this year the third snowiest winter on record, with at total so far of 89.7 inches, said Caleb Grunzke, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service Twin Cities.While most areas of the Metro saw between 7 and 9 inches of snow, a foot of snow was reported in some northwest areas, such as Medina and Monticello, he said. Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport clocked 8.5 inches of snow. Early on, the Witches and Black Horses went back and forth. Mackenzie Dixson scored on a free-shot opportunity to give Greenwich the lead. However, Schuylerville didn't panic and answered back.
