(KTLA) – California is one step closer to enacting a law that would ban chemicals found in Skittles, Hot Tamales, and a host of other food items that have been linked to a number of health issues.Assembly Bill 418, proposed by Jesse Gabriel (D-Woodland Hills), passed overwhelmingly in the California State Assembly last week and now heads to the State Senate. The bill would prohibit the manufacture, sale, or distribution of products containing Red Dye No. 3, titanium dioxide, potassium bromate, brominated vegetable oil, or propyl paraben in the Golden State. Those chemicals, which are already banned in the European Union, have been linked to cancer, reproductive issues, and developmental issues in children, Gabriel says. AUSTIN (KXAN) – An Austin man said he was denied his hormone prescription by a northwest Austin pharmacist.Hayden Martin said she would pick up her husband Tristan Martin’s medication while he was working. The Walgreens cashier said the hormones were ready, but the pharmacist said they were uncomfortable filling the prescription because of how the hormones were prescribed to be injected, Tristan recalled. There are two types of self-injections for gender-transitioning hormone therapy: intramuscular and subcutaneous. Intramuscular injections involve delivering the medication deep into the muscle tissue – usually shot into the thigh or buttocks. While subcutaneous, or sub-q, injections deliver the hormones into the fatty tissue just under the skin. Doctors recommend injecting into the abdomen or back of the arms for subcutaneous shots, according to Fenway Health. “The pharmacist told [my wife] that she was not comfortable filling the prescription because of the way it was being i...As the Twins’ DH, Byron Buxton on pace to play career high in games

If Byron Buxton continues to play games at his current pace, the Twins’ outfielder will set a new career high in games played in a season.Back in the lineup as the Twins started a three-game series against the San Francisco Giants on Monday at Target Field, Buxton has missed only five games through more than a quarter of the 2023 season. At that pace, he will play more than the 140 games he played in 2017.He sat out Sunday’s 4-2 loss in Anaheim after leaving Saturday’s 6-2 victory because of tightness near his right knee, which was surgically repaired last fall.“For me to do what I did, and come out for that tightness, you know, shows a little bit more of who I’m trying to become,” Buxton said before Monday night’s game. In the past, he said, “I would’ve tried to push myself through that, which would prevent myself from going back like I could today.”But Buxton also hasn’t played a single game in the field this season, either, and his overall health likely is a product of his willin...Infrastructure deal at the Capitol includes dozens of east metro projects

The bipartisan infrastructure bills the Minnesota Legislature hopes to pass before they adjourn Monday include dozens of east metro projects that will be funded with $1.5 billion in state borrowing and $1 billion from the historic budget surplus. It was a deal Democrats struck Saturday with Senate Republicans whose votes are necessary for the supermajority needed for the state to borrow money. Democrats had threatened to pass a cash-only bill along party lines, but agreed to a GOP demand they spend $300 million on emergency nursing home funding. The clock was ticking Monday when the final version of the infrastructure bills emerged and lawmakers had just hours to debate and vote on them or else they’ll need to come back for a special session. The complete list of projects can be found at www.senate.mn/omnibus.The bills are part of the next two-year state budget that is expected to be nearly $72 billion, about 38 percent more than current $52 billion general fund spending plan, w...How does NYSP investigate vehicle crashes? E. Jean Carroll amended her ongoing defamation lawsuit against former President Trump on Monday to include his recent comments during a CNN town hall.In an exchange that came one day after a jury ordered Trump to pay $5 million in civil damages for sexual battery and defamation in Carroll’s other lawsuit, the former president during his CNN appearance again denied assaulting her.“And I didn’t do anything else either.
