LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — The nine service members who died in a crash involving two U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopters ranged in age from 23 to 36 and were from seven states, the military said Friday, as it released the identities of the soldiers and an investigative team continued its probe of the accident.A military news release said the service members came from Florida, Texas, Missouri, California, North Carolina, Alabama and New Jersey.The soldiers from Missouri have been identified as Chief Warrant Officer 2 Rusten Smith, 32, of Rolla, Missouri and Chief Warrant Officer 2 Zachary Esparza, 36, of Jackson, Missouri. “This is a time of great sadness for the 101st Airborne Division. ST. LOUIS - Two people died in separate multi-car crashes overnight in St. Louis City on Interstate 70. The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department reports the crashes happened more than four hours apart, but within a few miles of each other. The first crash happened around 9:30 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 near West Florissant Avenue. Two cars collided, and one victim was rushed to the hospital, though died from their injuries. Two motorcycle rides died in separate two-vehicle traffic crashes Friday night in the metro area.About 8:15 p.m., a rider died in a crash with an SUV at East Mexico Avenue and South Helena Street, the Aurora Police Department said in a news release.The motorcyclist, a man on a Kawasaki, was driving eastbound on Mexico and the driver of an Infiniti FX35 was turning left from westbound Mexico on to southbound Helena when the crash happened, police said. The motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, died at the scene. The 18-year-old driver of the SUV was not injured. An investigation is ongoing.Another motorcyclist, a woman, died in a crash with a car at East 104th Avenue and York Street, the Thornton Police Department said in an 11:23 p.m. tweet. She died at the scene and the driver of the car involved, also a woman, was taken to a hospital for minor injuries. A series of three earthquakes — each registering an identical magnitude of 3.2 — struck Saturday morning in the Oakland hills, beneath the Oakland Zoo, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.The temblors began at 9:24 a.m. Saturday, with the first one occurring at a depth of about 4.3 miles underneath the zoo, nestled in the Oakland hills just outside of San Leandro and just west of Lake Chabot Regional Park, the agency reported.A second quake happened at 9:43 a.m. at almost the exact same spot. PAJARO, Calif. (KRON) -- As the community of Pajaro recovers from devastating flooding, some furry family members are starting to make their way back home. More than 120 pets have been reunited with families since the evacuations began, according to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) for Monterey County. Three earthquakes hit near San Leandro Saturday morning The local SPCA watched over 244 pets that had to be evacuated in March, and officials say another 120 of them are still being cared for now. Dogs, cats, chickens, several other species of birds, a rabbit and an iguana were all evacuated by SPCA during the flooding. SAN DIEGO (AP) — Two-time All-Star infielder Jake Cronenworth and the San Diego Padres agreed Saturday to an $80 million, seven-year contract coverig 2024-30.Cronenworth and the Padres reached a one-year deal in January for $4,225,000, and he would have been eligible for free agency after the 2025 season.He gets a $2 million signing bonus, $7 million next year, $11 million in 2025 and $12 million in each of the following four seasons.
