DENVER (KDVR) -- The number one bear attractant related to property damage by bears in Colorado is, by far, trash.Trash was to blame for 1,075 cases of property damage by bears in 2022. The next highest attractant was livestock at 377 cases, according to reports from Colorado Parks and Wildlife. Beware of hungry bears packing on the pounds before Colorado winter Bear's natural diets consist of berries, nuts, plants and fruits. So, what inspires such a trashy diet?The short answer is that bears are smart and can stock up on calories more efficiently by dumpster diving than scavenging for berries.Trash, with a side of garbageMost bear incident reports in 2022 happened when bears were in hyperphagia, which is an increase in feeding activity driven by biological needs, according to CPW. NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Mail-order access to a drug used in the most common form of abortion in the U.S. would end under a federal appeals court ruling issued Wednesday that cannot take effect until the Supreme Court weighs in.The decision by three judges on the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans overturned part of a lower court ruling that would have revoked the Food and Drug Administration’s 23-year-old approval of mifepristone. The wildfires are the deadliest in the U.S. in more than a century.
