The icy conditions that caused hundreds of crashes over the weekend may linger into Monday morning, but don’t put away your sandals just yet, meteorologists said Sunday.Brennan Dettmann, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Chanhassen, said roads may still be slick during the Monday morning commute because cloudy skies kept temperatures below freezing Sunday, and temperatures will remain in the mid to upper-teens overnight.“Tomorrow we’ll see an increase in temperatures, and that should help,” Dettmann said, noting that the temperature should rise above freezing by Monday afternoon. While some areas in the metro saw nearly an inch of snow during a Saturday evening storm, St. Paul received just half an inch. The city deployed extra public works staff on Sunday to help mitigate slippery roads on hills and problem areas in the city, said St. Paul Public Works Director Sean Kershaw. The Minnesota State Patrol posted that as of 9 a.m. Sunday they had ...

INGLEWOOD, Calif. — The Broncos offense made enough plays on Sunday to log their first division road win in three-plus years.Imagine how dangerous the group might be if Jerry Jeudy finds any semblance of a rhythm down the stretch.Denver coach Sean Payton and quarterback Russell Wilson made a concerted effort to push the ball down the field to the talented receiver, but he finished with just two catches for 16 yards on six targets in a 24-7 win over the Los Angeles Chargers.Jeudy had two chances to make catches up the right sideline in the first half, but couldn’t come down with either. Then he had a touchdown in the back corner of the end zone wiped off the board just before halftime when he failed to get his trailing foot down inbounds.Instead of leading by two touchdowns, Denver eventually settled for a short Wil Lutz field goal and took a 10-0 lead into the break.“Oh look, he’ll get his touches. Gosh,” Payton said. “The key is winning. He had a chance to make a play or two ...

SANTA CLARA — There was a time when the 49ers under Kyle Shanahan were best described as steady and even-keeled, and it wasn’t that long ago.The 49ers who beat Seattle 28-16 Sunday at Levi’s Stadium were more like a match thrown into a fireworks factory, with sparks and explosions going off everywhere as they won their fifth straight game to improve to 10-3 and arrive at the cusp of an inevitable NFC West title.Consider that of their season-high 527-yard output of total offense, the 49ers racked up 322 on eight big plays — an average of 40.3 yards per snap. They finished the game at 9.9 yards per play overall, with the usual suspects doing the most damage.Christian McCaffrey raced 72 yards the first time he touched the ball on a toss left, setting up the first touchdown, and finished with 145 yards rushing. Deebo Samuel had seven receptions for 149 yards, hauled in a 54-yard deep strike from Brock Purdy and added a 1-yard run for another score. Brandon Aiyuk ...

Kurtenbach: The ‘sloppy’ 49ers still demoralized the Seahawks. That’s a clear sign of greatness

SANTA CLARA — Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll stood at the podium outside the Levi’s Stadium visitor’s locker room. He was dripping with dejection. The 49ers had just beaten his team 28-16 — a fifth straight win for San Francisco in what was once the NFL’s best (and perhaps fiercest) rivalry. And what bothered Carroll most wasn’t the loss itself, but how the 49ers won the game.“We had a chance,” Carroll said. “We just got big-played by their guys on offense.“There was nothing special.”The first play of the game, a 73-yard Christian McCaffrey run to the 2-yard line?“That’s their favorite play,” Carroll said.Deebo Samuel’s 54-yard touchdown catch over the top of the defense?“A deep crosser… We saw it, we just didn’t play it right.”George Kittle with a 44-yard touchdown catch and run?“A play-action pass in heavy personnel — he’s been doing that his whole career.̶...

In the middle of this past Saturday night’s segment, co-anchor Michael Che continued to mock Green’s agggression on the court – with a set up based on a news story out of the Southeast.“A gym teacher in Florida was arrested after he threw a basketball at a sixth grader and then elbowed him in the mouth, knocking out his front tooth. The teacher was forced to resign, and return to the Golden State Warriors," Che said.
