The palette captured the mood, moving from bronze on silvery gray to jewel blue, green and purples that bled together, and back to dusky shades of gray and silver that faded to white.“No beige,″ Armani joked after the show. The collection conveyed elegance but also practicality: clothes that put the wearer at ease in any context and without prodding toward overt, revealing sexiness. Satiny trousers anchored many of the looks — jackets, transparent blouson layers, shimmering tops and off-sh...

Can at-home DNA tests predict how you’ll respond to your medications?

Published Wed, 12 Feb 2025 15:49:25 GMT

(The Conversation) - Have you ever wondered why certain medications don’t seem to work as well for you as they do for others? This variability in drug response is what pharmacogenomic testing hopes to explain by looking at the genes within your DNA.Pharmacogenomics, or PGx, is the study of how genes affect your response to medications. Genes are segments of DNA that serve as an instruction manual for cells to make proteins. Some of these proteins break down or transport certain medications through the body. Others are proteins that medications target to generate a desired effect. As pharmacists who see patients who have stopped multiple medications because of side effects or ineffectiveness, we believe pharmacogenomic testing has the potential to help guide health care professionals to more precise dosing and prescribing. How do PGx tests work?PGx tests look for variations within the genes of your DNA to predict drug response. Wild counting on bigger, stronger Marco Rossi

Published Wed, 12 Feb 2025 15:49:25 GMT

Marco Rossi has made the Wild roster out of camp before, last season, in fact, after earning a goal and five assists in just the preseason games. But it didn’t stick, and he found himself back in Iowa after 19 games. That won’t do this season for either Rossi or the Wild.“We’re looking for Marco Rossi to make our hockey club and be an impact player with the Minnesota Wild,” head coach Dean Evason said this week. The Wild are cap-strapped and high on the No. 9 overall pick in the 2020 draft, and Rossi is anxious to find a home in the NHL after last season’s setback and a serious bout with myocarditis that essentially wiped out his first season of professional hockey. It’s almost hard to believe he’s still only 22 years old.“I want to make the team and just want to show that I’ve improved over the last few years, and that I gained confidence and that I know what to do,” Rossi said as the Wild started training camp last week at TRIA Rink in downtown St. Paul.To that end, the Austria nativ...
