HENDERSON, Nev. (AP) — If a World Cup of Hockey materializes in the near future, it won’t be a traditional international tournament like the Olympics. The NHL and NHL Players’ Association are still planning to host a World Cup in February 2025, though the sides have scaled back what they think they can do given the timeframe and uncertainty regarding Russian players. Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly wouldn’t reveal specific ideas being considered other than to say it won’t be a “typical” World Cup of eight national teams playing over the course of 16 days.“We’re focused on an alternative type of tournament that leverages kind of the unique internationality of our sport,” Daly said Tuesday at the NHL/NHLPA Player Media Tour. “And so that’s the process we’re in now working with the Players’ Association really to design something that we can plug into February of ’25.”The initial hope was to stage the World Cup in 2024, but Russia’s war in Ukraine and some federatio...

It’s not easy.”Sanders has not only boosted Colorado’s image on the field but off it as well. Merchandise sales have increased roughly 525% from 2021. DORTMUND, Germany (AP) — From jeers to cheers inside three days.Germany beat World Cup runner-up France 2-1 in a friendly on Tuesday in a dramatic turnaround from being whistled by the crowd in a 4-1 loss to Japan on Saturday. That defeat cost Hansi Flick his job as coach the following day.The win lifts some of the gloom around the team hosting the European Championship next year.“We really threw ourselves into it and I think people saw that,” goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen told broadcaster ARD. “These have been strange, difficult days and it was all the better that we could turn things around with the win. I think it gives us confidence and that was what we definitely need right now.”Thomas Müller scored early on and Leroy Sané added a second on a late counterattack, ending the run of five winless games which led to Flick being ousted Sunday. The search is on for a new permanent coach ahead of games against the United States and Mexico next month.Against France, Germany was coach...

Coke’s latest mystery flavor is here. It’s created by AI

Published Fri, 07 Feb 2025 07:04:43 GMT

New York (CNN) — For about a year and a half, Coca-Cola has experimented with limited-edition beverages that have mystery tastes — most of them with vague, futuristic concepts and undisclosed flavors. The latest one, Coca-Cola Y3000, fits the bill. The one distinction: It’s supposed to taste like the future. Fittingly, the soft-drink giant used artificial intelligence to help determine the flavor and packaging. It’s important for Coca-Cola to keep customers — particularly younger ones — excited about Coke, its more-than-a-century-old signature product. In recent years, health-conscious consumers have shied away from sugary beverages, making it trickier for soda sellers to market their legacy brands. Coca-Cola has used its Creations platform, responsible for limited-edition flavors like Y3000, to try to make the brand resonate with younger consumers.Like all Creations drinks, Coca-Cola Y3000 is designed to taste mostly like Coke, with a bit of something else.
