There’s Still Life in The Damned and Dictators: It would be interesting to know how many people were intending to go to see the Damned at the Belasco on Sunday evening but ended up having to go to the extra Cruel World night instead. It doesn’t seem like many in actual fact, because the room seems crammed full, at least towards the front. But the threat of lightning at the Rose Bowl forced Siouxsie, plus Iggy Pop and Gary Numan, to move their set to Sunday and there is surely some crossover. There was little chance of lighting inside this Downtown L.A. venue, but there were musical sparks thanks to the two veteran punk bands, both proving that there’s plenty of life in the old legs. The Dictators (Brett Callwood)New York’s the Dictators reformed a couple of years ago, without larger than life frontman Handsome Dick Manitoba. A server trying to do her job at a gala Alec Baldwin attended last week in New York City has shared new details about how the famously hotheaded actor “patronizingly” scolded her and called her a “peasant” as she walked away. The young woman’s account of her tense encounter with Baldwin at the star-studded 2023 PEN America Spring Literary Gala Thursday night suggests that the actor has perhaps not learned patience, kindness and humility after living through the horror of accidentally killing another human being. It also could be that Baldwin feels entitled to behave belligerently in public again, after he learned last month that prosecutors in New Mexico had dropped involuntary manslaughter charges against him in that killing — the 2021 shooting death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of his Western film “Rust.”Whatever is going on with Baldwin, this server told Page Six in an interview published Monday that she was on the re...Hundreds of apartments could sprout at a downtown Berkeley office site

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- San Francisco Mayor London Breed announced new legislation Monday that will make it easier to build new housing along commercial corridors and the Westside of the city. The tech-centric city is grappling with a large number of empty commercial buildings while tech workers continue working remotely and large retailers close up shop. At the same time, the city has sky-high rent prices, a housing stock shortage, a homeless crisis, and a public image problem. The Mayor's Office is trying to cut back red tape that blocked home builders for decades. By eliminating arbitrary residential density limits in mixed-use commercial districts, Breed said her proposal will create new housing in neighborhoods across the city."These arbitrary restrictions are hurting our ability to meet the housing needs of our city.
