YouTube has suspended the Los Angeles Police Department’s channel after a video showing a brutal attack was taken down. LAPD originally said that their account had been “temporarily suspended after [posting] a video of a brutal attack” in the department’s Pacific Division shortly before 11:45 a.m. Saturday morning. “We have appealed the suspension and have been denied,” LAPD said in their post to X, formerly Twitter. According to the department, they had been asking the public’s help in identifying the suspects. Ring camera video released by LAPD shows an assault in Venice, California on Sept. 28, 2023. Exactly one month later, on Oct. 28, 2023, YouTube temporarily suspended the LAPD's channel for violent content related to the brutal attack. (LAPD)The "brutal attack" in question was a Sept. 28 incident in which a male victim encountered two other men walking with bicycles near the intersection of Speedway and Market Street when one of the two men with bicycles swung a p...Critical fire weather conditions raise red flag advisory

(BCN) -- The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Fire Weather Watch for the Moraga-Orinda area throughout the weekend until Sunday night. Due to extremely dry vegetation, low humidity and gusty off shore wind conditions, these factors potentially trigger aggressive fire behavior as new fires can grow dangerously fast. The Moraga Police Department urges residents to proceed with caution, stay vigilant and report vertical columns of smoke in the vicinity, which are different from the drifting smoke produced by previous fires in the area. Power outages strike the East Bay Additionally, residents are advised to avoid mowing or using equipment around dry grass, refrain from parking or driving vehicles through dry grass, avoid having any outside fires and report any suspicious activity. For more information about how to prevent fires, please contact the Moraga-Orinda Fire District at 925-258-4599 or go to www.mofd.org. As Israel imposed an internet blackout in Gaza on Friday, social media users posting about the grim conditions have contended with erratic and often unexplained censorship of content related to Palestine on Instagram and Facebook.Since Israel launched retaliatory airstrikes in Gaza after the October 7 Hamas attack, Facebook and Instagram users have reported widespread deletions of their content, translations inserting the word “terrorist” into Palestinian Instagram profiles, and suppressed hashtags. Instagram comments containing the Palestinian flag emoji have also been hidden, according to 7amleh, a Palestinian digital rights group that formally collaborates with Meta, which owns Instagram and Facebook, on regional speech issues.Numerous users have reported to 7amleh that their comments were moved to the bottom of the comments section and require a click to display. Many of the remarks have something in common: “It often seemed to coincide with having a Palestinian flag in the comm...Brock Purdy cleared to start for the 49ers when they try to snap a 2-game skid against the Bengals

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — The San Francisco 49ers showed they could win lopsided games when they raced out to a 5-0 start and were barely challenged in the second half in any of those games.Pulling it out down the stretch in a tight game has been a different issue. A few key mistakes have doomed San Francisco in tight losses the past two weeks to Cleveland and Minnesota. The Niners (5-2) will look to find that formula for winning even when everything isn’t going as planned when they host the Cincinnati Bengals (3-3) on Sunday.“Every year is its own year and you learn different things about yourselves as a team throughout the year,” linebacker Fred Warner said. “That’s one thing that we’re learning right now as a team is that we know that we can blow people out, but let’s figure out a way to make sure that we focus on that next play, regardless of what mistakes have happened in the game.”A missed late field goal proved costly against the Browns, while two fourth-quarter interce...The 49ers look to snap a 2-game skid when they face the Bengals

Bayern then scored all eight goals in under 40 minutes in the second half. Kane got the fifth with a spectacular long shot from the Bayern half after spotting the goalkeeper was off his line.“This was a nice hat trick, a couple of nice goals in there,” Kane said. “Credit to the team. I’ve said before, with these players around me I know I’m going to get chances. So I’ve just got to make sure I’m in the right places at the right time.”Bayern went top of the Bundesliga with the win, and has 34 goals from nine games, but could be overtaken Sunday if Bayer Leverkusen beats Freiburg.Go...49ers QB Brock Purdy clears concussion protocol and will start against the Bengals

For the third time in this year’s playoffs, NASCAR regular season champion Martin Truex Jr. is facing elimination and wondering how his title chances have exploded spectacularly.Truex heads into Sunday’s race at Martinsville Speedway tied with Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Denny Hamlin at 17 points below the cutoff line. There are six drivers vying for two spots in next week’s championship-deciding finale and Truex needs a rapid turnaround to have any shot at racing for a second title. He has just one top-10 finish through the first seven races of the playoffs — it forced him to stave off elimination at the end of the rounds of 16 and 12 — and an engine failure last week at Homestead-Miami Speedway put him in the same spot Sunday at the Virginia short track.“It’s been really tough, and nothing has really gone right,” Truex said Saturday. “I thought we were sitting in a really good position last week. Things were going pretty well, and then we pit and the bottom falls ou...Charles Co. health department warns of increase in rabies cases

The health department in Charles County, Maryland, is warning of an increase in rabies cases in the area. One raccoon and two skunks have tested positive for rabies since mid-September, according to a news release. The two skunks that tested positive for rabies were found on Sept. 21 and Oct. 24 in the Waldorf or White Plains area. The raccoon was found on Oct. 19 in the area of Bryantown near Edelen Road. The Charles County Department of Health is urging everyone to “avoid contact” with wildlife and unknown animals after the discovery of these cases. The virus is spread through the saliva of a rabid animal, which can happen when it bites or scratches another animal or a person. It can also spread when saliva gets on the coat of an animal who was exposed to a rabid animal. The health department said that the virus can infect someone through open cuts, wounds or through the nose, mouth or eyes. Dogs, cats and ferrets can get rabies from wild animals.Because of this risk, the health dep...Latest news
