LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw had left shoulder surgery Friday and anticipates being sidelined until next summer.The 35-year-old in a social media post wrote the surgery with Dodgers head team physician Dr. Neal ElAttrache was to repair the glenohumeral ligaments and his shoulder capsule. There are three glenohumeral ligaments and they reinforce the joint capsule.“I am hopeful to return to play at some point next summer,” he wrote. “Thanks for your prayers!”Kershaw was sidelined for six weeks by the shoulder injury and it hampered him over the final couple months of the season. BEREA, Ohio (AP) — Deshaun Watson is going to try again.Cleveland’s quarterback, who was sidelined for all but 12 plays in four October games with a curious and confusing right shoulder injury, will start Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals, Browns coach Kevin Stefanski said following Friday’s practice.Watson has been dealing with a strained rotator cuff, an injury he first sustained on Sept. 24 against Tennessee. DETROIT (AP) — The Detroit Tigers declined their $30 million option of retiring star Miguel Cabrera on Friday and will pay a $8 million buyout that completes a $292 million, 10-year contract.Half of the buyout is deferred without interest.A 12-time All-Star and four-time batting champion, Cabrera is a two-time AL MVP. DENVER (KDVR) — A student was injured Friday afternoon at George Washington High School, where police were investigating a stabbing.The Denver Police Department posted at 3:39 p.m. that officers were investigating a stabbing in the 600 block of South Monaco Street Parkway. SkyFOX flew over the scene and saw officers responding to the school, with crime scene tape outside the school in the parking lot. DENVER (KDVR) — Denver Mayor Mike Johnston is back from the nation's capital, where he and other mayors urged the federal government to provide more help for the migrant crisis. The city reports that 51 migrants arrived in Denver just Friday. Since December, more than 26,000 have been served by the city, and almost 2,000 are in shelters. The state of Texas just announced it has bused 6,600 migrants to Denver since May 18. Denver shutting down another migrant hotel shelter as crisis continues At the same time, the mayor's still pushing ahead with his plan to house 1,000 homeless people by the end of the year. DENVER (KDVR) -- The Denver Animal Shelter has a new play yard for pups in their care to gallivant outside thanks to Hugo, a Havanese dog adopted from the Denver Animal Shelter. Hugo's owner donated $12,000 in honor of their rescue dog to fund the enclosure.To thank Hugo and his owner, the area will be known as Hugo's Yard.Letting dogs play can also help with adoption since it socializes them with other dogs and humans. Shelter staff will also be able to learn more about adoptable dogs in the play yard, gauging their behavior to best match them to potential homes.
